A Form W-2G is an information return. A threshold for when a payer issues that form is a payer rule, not the edge of reportable winnings.

Topic 419 says you must report gambling winnings including winnings that are not reported on a Form W-2G.

  • Absence of a W-2G is an absence of that form.
  • This page does not print a threshold dollar.

This page does not tell you when a book must issue a form, and it does not say a missing form means there was no income.
