Topic 419 states that gambling winnings are fully taxable and names sports betting among examples of gambling income.

It says you must report all gambling winnings, including winnings that are not reported on a Form W-2G.

  • Sports betting is named on that page as gambling income.
  • An information return is not the edge of reportable winnings.

This page does not compute a withholding, name a form you must attach, or say what you owe.
